„Suwariwaza is the base structural unit of Aikido.“

Petr Doupovec started to study Aikido in 1998 in Australia under Daniel Falero(4^th Dan). In autumn 1999 he first came to Iwama and trained under the direction of Saito Morihiro sensei. His way of teaching and technical skills were so persuasive that Petr decided to follow him.

Two other stays in Iwama came in 2003 and 2005-2006. The training was under the direction of Saito Hitohiro sensei. The last 8 month stay is the longest so far and he spent it as an uchideshi there. His effort is to perserve the original teaching as much as possible and the Japanese spirit of this beautiful martial art.
